Getting to Know You, Part 3

Posted By: Kim Sterritt

Ladies and gentlemen, I present.....Katie Baioni!

Katie Baioni
Location: Worthington, OH

Are you a NEW New Kid or a New Kid With Experience?

I'm a New Kid...holla.

What made you decide to take the plunge and sign up for the 2010 3 Day?

It is a great way for me to FINALLY get to spend time with one of my best friends...Kim Sterritt...AND it is a great opportunity to make new friends, take on a new challenge...and bring awareness to a very important topic.

How did you get suckered into joining, I mean, get connected with Team New Kids?
Kimberly Joy :)

What is your favorite snack?
McDonalds Cheesburger Happy Meals...yes, it's not just a meal...it's a snack too.

What is your favorite walking/workout jam (song)?

Anything by Janet Jackson...even her slow songs get me moving. Wrap that around some Christina Aguilera and you got a fierce workout.

Fundraising for the 3-Day walk is challenging. What is your strategy?
To encourage 1,000 people to donate $2.30 :) JUST KIDDING - I'm going to stay positive...be creative and if September rolls around and I don't have my goal achieved...I will beg.

What are you plans for training?
To buy the right shoes - and to schedule...schedule...schedule training into my days.

Why do you walk? What inspires you?
The challenge inspires me. The physical challenge...the fundraising challenge...and the challenge to support efforts to bring more awareness and to support efforts to find a cure that will help to eliminate a disease that crushes so many lives. I am inspired by moms, grandmas, sisters, girlfriends, daddies, brothers, neighbors, aunts, cousins, uncles, and loved ones.

What is your biggest fear regarding the 3 Day?

My biggest fear is injuries...I just want everyone on the team to be safe and healthy all three days.

Tell us a little more about yourself!

I'm a hot mess...but I like me that way. I love to work. I love to travel. I love McDonalds. And I really am passionate about living life and filling up every second of my life with FUN!

If you had dinner with Nancy Brinker, the founder of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, what would you say to her or ask her?
I'd give her a high five and say "you go girl".

Please feel free to add anything else you’d like to share about yourself or the 3-Day.
I'm excited to get to know all of the New Kids...thanks to each one of you for your support!

Katie is well on her way to reaching her fundraising goal! Help her hit her $2300 mark by clicking here!

Up next week: Jennifer Latino!

  1. Katie - loved your interview! It makes me look forward to meeting you on October even more! Your love for McDonald's gave me giggles, and I loved the "You go, girl!" message to Nancy Brinker ... that same message from you inspired me last week. Good luck with training this week!

  2. Hmm ... tried to post a comment and it didn't work. Maybe it'll show up later. If not, here's the gist of it.
